Mobile production in the future factory

Economic efficiency has no limits - neither does Schlemmer's Mobile Factory!

Poing, 5th November 2010 - Production independent of location? A manufacturing unit packed into a container? What at first sounds like science fiction, Schlemmer, the Bavarian technology enterprise in Poing near Munich, has turned into reality. The Mobile Factory facilitates the shift of production worldwide for the first time from a stationary manufacturing plant into a mobile container. This means that i.e. the corrugated tubes by Schlemmer can be produced for the automotive industry for the first time independent of any location and within flexible time. In focus are the chances that a globally cross-linked production can offer: The customer nearness as well as an economical complete solution with maximum flexibility. The Mobile Factory is especially well suitable for use in large territory countries such as Russia, China, Southeast Asia, India and the USA with their long distances combined with thus high logistics costs. Josef Minster, Schlemmer CEO is very enthusiastic: "With the Mobile Factory we can now bring in line the production and delivery of corrugated tubes to every location of the world within four weeks. We can thus act at short notice with economically reasonable prices."

Quick in use, flexible in alignment
The extrusion fabric works completely autonomously in a specially designed container and can be loaded onto a truck and start producing around the clock. The material is always purchased at the nearest raw material market. That does not only enhance sustainability, but the customer furthermore saves logistics costs. Because for the Mobile Factory only the raw material must be transported, this having far less volume in comparison to the finished corrugated tube product. Within two to three hours Schlemmer's Mobile Factory is ready to produce for which a team of two employees is sufficient to operate it. Currently 2 - 3.000 products out of the Schlemmer assortment can be manufactured with the technical equipment of the prototype. Twenty-five different tools and three types of material are used for this purpose. Maximum flexibility is guaranteed: The Mobile Factory can easily consist of several containers and a larger number of tools - according to the individual customer demands. The majority of the products from the Mobile Factory are directed at the supplier industry for car and commercial vehicles as well as the mechanical engineering industry. In addition, large irrigation systems and/or solar absorbers projects can in the future be delivered directly on site with corrugated tubes by Schlemmer. The output of an average corrugated tube is produced with 22 meters per minute, meaning just more than 21.000 meters per shift being at the most 62.000 meters, in a three shift-operation company per day.

When employees start adventuring...
A mobile factory also requires mobile personnel: Currently Schlemmer is training the employees from the staff in Russia for its functional handling of the Mobile Factory. From its first site of use in Russia, the mobile factory shall conquest the world with the beginning of 2011. The Schlemmer crew shall focus on India, China, Southeast Asia, the USA, and Brazil for the optimal use of the Mobile Factory.

The enterprise
The Schlemmer Group is engaged with more than 1.400 employees worldwide at 35 strategically significant locations and generates a sales turnover of 125 million Euros. The enterprise markets corrugated and protective tube systems, connection systems with conduit fitting systems, mechatronic systems with probes and sensors as well as air and fluid systems for media-leading pipes and receptacles. In its consistent enterprise expansion the business field for precision parts however is playing an increasingly supporting role at the Germany location with its own production for customer-specific metal turned parts.
The youngest „child" within the Schlemmer family, which suits Schlemmer ecotech with solar absorbers, pool heating or drip water irrigation systems is completely in the scope of the environmental technology.
