More Growth with less Water

Hassfurt, 19 March 2010 - Less water and energy consumption! This was the requisite in the specifications of the new "Polyflex Flora Drip" drip irrigation system. And it's not only the product that is new! Also the perspective of the development should set new impulses. The manufacturer has incorporated all its experience gained from proven and tested high-tech components for sophisticated industries such as the automotive industry into the construction of a tube system. Thus, Schlemmer ecotech ranks among the premium suppliers of watering systems.
The supplier, which is located in Poing near Munich/Germany, resorts to unique expertise and valuable experience acquired in the manufacture of media-conducting systems within the Schlemmer Group. As a worldwide operating supplier of cable protection systems, air & fluid components and mechatronic modules, the Schlemmer Group has a leading role. For years the company has transferred innovations, processes and quality standards of high-tech products to sustainable energy generation systems or to energy-saving products such as the "Polyflex Flora Drip" system. The newly established business field, which trades under the name of "Schlemmer ecotech", will force this project on the market further.

Purposeful energy-efficient watering
Two significant characteristics of the "Polyflex Flora Drip" system provide for high energy efficiency of the new drip irrigation system developed by Schlemmer ecotech. For example, the drip tube can already be used efficiently at a water pressure of 0.1bar. This pressure is sufficient to feed in the system from a higher located water container without energy-intensive pump power. The UV, kick and rodent bite-resistant tube is suited for above and underground laying. Due to variably selectable drip intervals, a well-directed discharge of water and nutrients in the root area is possible irrespective of the type and density of planting. This provisioning of the plants exactly to their requirements prevents unnecessary evaporation or atomisation and leads to savings in water and fertilisers of around 60 percent.

Plenty of manufacturing expertise flows into the quality of the tube.
Every year, more than 300 million metres of smooth and corrugated tubes are fabricated under the roof of the Schlemmer Group. This development and manufacturing expertise impacts the quality, durability and serviceability of the "Polyflex Flora Drip" drip tube directly. The tube manufactured in an economic extrusion procedure and made of drinking water proof material (PE 100) does not release any hazardous substances to water or plants. A double-wall tube construction secures an optimally uniform drip performance for a laying distance of up to 500 metres. To allow for a constant flow rate even in the long-term, a sealing lip at the drip outlet prevents roots from ingrowing. The designers from Schlemmer ecotech ensure through large flow passages that small parts can easily be flushed out from the conduit and do not cause any clogging. "We even consider a drip irrigation system as a high-tech product and are always looking for functional, qualitative and economic optimisation", Roland Meissner, Division Manager of Schlemmer ecotech, substantiates the attention to detail. In doing so, he and his engineers picture and play through most versatile application scenarios in pilot tests for the use of the "Polyflex Flora Drip" system. For example, the Schlemmer ecotech drip irrigation system is already today used in gardening and landscaping, in greenhouses, for maintaining green roofs and sports grounds, and for reducing dust in riding halls. After all, the system is to arrive at all potential users via the worldwide group distribution network.
